Here at Grass Valley Dairy we raise Heritage pigs. Heritage pigs are typically smaller and weigh less because they're not raised for commercial meat. It takes them longer to bulk up but it is said that their meat is far superior. It is leaner and has a cleaner taste due to the pigs having fresh air and exercise daily. In the fall our pigs ravish the woods for all the acorns they can find.
We feed our pigs garden scraps and organic Non-GMO shelled corn. Our pigs are also given fresh raw skim milk 2-3 times a day in their troughs. Boy do they love it!
